U15’s 1972-73

Here’s another early ‘seventies rugby line-up from the vaults. This shows the U15 side from 1972-73, so lads that started at the school in September 1969.
Seated on the far left is Vince Smith, who appears to have his foot in plaster and is that a stick beside him? Vince, from Dartford, was a fine sportsman who would later play for the first fifteen as would a number of others pictured here including, sitting next to him, Richard D’Silva.
Others include John Totman, sitting on the ground on the left, Gerard Sheehan, back row, far left and Dave Attwell, back row, fourth left.
Back row, fifth left, is Brian Battison, the middle one of the three Battisons from Erith, following Christopher (1967) and preceding John (1972).
John would become first fifteen captain in 1978/79.
Best haircut award goes to Clinton Taylor, back row, far right, whose hair looks very ‘of the moment’ – a bit Mott the Hoople.
The names are:
Back row, left to right: Gerard Sheehan; Tony Linnett; Ralph Raison; Dave Attwell; Brian Battison; Brendan Andrews; Kiran Tuite; Peter Kaul; John Di-Mascio; Clinton Taylor
Middle row: Vince Smith; Richard D’Silva; Dave Reidy; Pat Owen; Anthony Plant; Mark Cook; Niall Coffey
Front row: John Totman; Will O’Reilly
