I Did My Homework….at Home

A specially adapted school badge courtesy of the brilliant Bert Moniz, who started at St Mary’s in 1954

Apologies that this site has been rather quiet of late. I’ve been completing the manuscript of the book and going through the rather laborious process of finalising all the (many) images which I have amassed over the last few years.

The number (and quality) of these images forced a change of tack. I decided to include more of them in the book and reduce the number of words which, at one point, exceeded 320,000!

So I’ve trimmed considerably and included more images. I am working with a typesetter who is preparing the manuscript for print and I hope to have the final, final manuscript plus all the pictures ready by the end of next week.

There will be a launch in the summer and details of that will be shared soon.

Once I have the manuscript handed over, that will give me more time to devote to this website again with more stories, photos and ‘Where are they Now?’ features. Barely a week goes by when I am not contacted by an old boy who wishes to contribute and, of course, I very much welcome this.

And I always thought that authors simply sat looking wistfully out of a window whilst chewing the end of their quill (Oooooer Matron!) and waiting for the Muse to descend upon them. This has been an eye opener for many of us , and a great joy, but extremely hard work for you. I am sure that the finished product will be brilliant and delighted that “old boys” like Buck Hennessy and myself have played a small part in your endeavours.

Mick O’Hara (now a VERY old boy!)
