A Health Update from Rod Turner

Former Head of PE Rod Turner was a notable absentee from the centenary celebrations in October. Here he gives an update on his health
As I missed the 100-year celebration “knees up” in October I thought (and at Matt’s request) I would issue a bulletin to those interested parties – both of them!
I had heart valve replacement/bypass surgery in early October and was making good recovery until I was informed that the removal of eye surgery that took place in May 2022 might be cancerous – and I had a TIA/mini stroke in mid-February.
NHS decided that some changed medication would help the TIA situation, and further eye / cancer surgery was unsafe, so I am back to riding my bike and doing a daily 10-minutes of exercises suited to the over 80s.
I feel well – and am carrying on my lifelong strategies of winding up as many friends as possible each day, shouting at TV rugby, leading a monthly old blokes club, and trying not to think about D. Trump.
We will be down in Kent in September visiting one of our daughters who lives in West Malling – but staying in Hythe. If any of you fancy meeting then or just want a natter in the meantime, my email is rmturner43@btinternet.com.
As you no doubt realise, I have good memories of SMGS in the 1970, and I think the work done by Matt Eastley and his fellow creatures is great.
Good luck to you all. Rod Turner
